Cheap Philippe Coutinho Liverpool FC Soccer Jersey/Shirt/Hoodie/Hat Wholesale

The Brazil playmaker has bounced back from an indifferent start to the 2018-19 campaign and has shown some of his best form in the Champions League

Philippe Coutinho is now desperate to extend his stay at Barcelona after overcoming a rocky patch of form to show the Liga champions he has the talent to be a star at Camp Nou.

The Brazilian swapped Liverpool for Catalunya in January 2018 and made an initial good impression on the famously demanding Barca faithful with his performances in his debut season.

The 2018-19 campaign has been more irregular, however, with Coutinho struggling to reproduce his best form and falling in and out of the first team in rotation with Ousmane Dembele. That lack of playing time had led to rumours that Barca would be willing to listen to offers in the coming transfer window, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain signalled as possible suitors.

But a recent upsurge in form ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg, ironically against his former club, has helped convince those in charge that his services should be retained for next season.

While just a few short weeks ago the priority among those in charge at Barcelona was to attempt to recoup most of the €135 million (£116m/$150m) spent on the ex-Liverpool man, those recent improvements have changed the panorama.

Coutinho is almost certain to start on Wednesday against his former employers, and now thanks to efforts from his family is settled and happy in Spain and in the Barca dressing room.

Goal understands that Coutinho too is determined to push on in Spanish football, using the prospect of a Champions League title as further motivation in his battle to win over the sceptical Catalans.

Despite the reported interest in his signature, therefore, the playmaker does not want a move this summer.

Coutinho put in one of the best displays of his short Barca life in April to fire Ernesto Valverde’s men to a 3-0 thrashing of Manchester United in the quarter final, scoring the third goal after Lionel Messi’s early double.

Indeed, his Champions League form has been markedly better than in La Liga, having netted three goals as well as contributing three assists in his nine starts so far in the competition.

In total he has played 72 games in the Barca shirt, scoring 21 goals and lifting two Ligas, a Copa del Rey and Supercopa.

Cheap Jordan Henderson Liverpool FC Soccer Jersey/Shirt/Hoodie/Hat Wholesale

Martin Keown reckons Jordan Henderson can play a crucial role in Liverpool ’s title pursuit – and has backed him to deliver match-defining goals.

The Liverpool captain has been enjoying a more attacking role recently, and has delivered the goods for manager Jurgen Klopp.

Henderson notched a vital goal in the 3-1 win over Southampton earlier this month, while the stats prove how he’s adapted his game.

Usually a deep-lying midfielder, the 28-year-old has enjoyed a far greater percentage of possession in the final third.

Almost 25 per cent of his touches have been in the final third over the last four games, compared to 17.5 per cent for the rest of the season.
And Arsenal legend Keown has hailed the change, and expects Henderson to continue his remarkable rise to goalscoring midfielder. Keown, writing in The Daily Mail , said: “It turns out the reason Jordan Henderson is being used further forward for Liverpool comes from a conversation he had with his manager.

“The England midfielder felt brave enough to suggest it to Jurgen Klopp, who said he would think about it.

“Now, his boss is backing him. I’ve watched Henderson closely and the 28-year-old is clever in the way he picks his moments to arrive in the box.“If he continues to be used in that position, he will start to score important goals for Liverpool.

“This is not entirely new for Henderson. He’s been used as a box-to-box midfielder before. It suits his energy and he clearly enjoys it.

“Showing he can be used in a different way adds a string to Henderson’s bow.”

Cheap Nathaniel Clyne Liverpool FC Soccer Jersey/Shirt/Hoodie/Hat Wholesale

There was a major outcry among Liverpool supporters in January when Jurgen Klopp sanctioned Clyne’s temporary departure to the South Coast but the Reds have coped just fine without him.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and likely to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League with a favourable last eight draw against Porto.

Goal’s Neil Jones writes that competition from West Ham could see the Reds earn around £15million from Clyne’s permanent sale.Given the excellent work Michael Edwards has done in the past, it’s not hard to imagine the sporting director negotiating a fee in excess of £20million.

If the Reds can secure a decent fee for Clyne, it would bolster the summer coffers and ensure that Jurgen Klopp can go out and further reinforce a side that is on the cusp of great things.Liverpool are in need of a top class attacking midfielder and a quality central defender if Dejan Lovren leaves this summer, with reports last month claiming he could leave.

Klopp has said that he doesn’t expect a huge outlay this summer but he has often said this. The Reds boss is well known for his spontaneous approach to making transfers, choosing to approach the window with an open mind and reacting quickly when the right player becomes available.Alisson’s £65million move to Liverpool is a perfect example. Before he signed for the Anfield outfit, Loris Karius and Danny Ward were set to be the two goalkeepers for the season and Simon Mignolet was likely to leave.

He then became available and Liverpool moved exrtremely fast to sign him. Then, Karius was loaned out, Ward sold and Mignolet stayed at the club as second choice ‘keeper.

The result? Liverpool were immediately transformed into title challengers and may well still win the Premier League title this season.

DETROIT (AP) — This was the type of win that Detroit fans can be encouraged by — not only did the Tigers rally in the late innings, but one of their top young players delivered the key home run.

Christin Stewart hit a two-out grand slam in the seventh inning, lifting Detroit to a 7-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday. The Tigers trailed 4-2 in the seventh but rallied against Kansas City’s struggling bullpen.

Kevin McCarthy (0-1) allowed three hits and a hit batter. The only out on his watch came with the score 4-3, when Alex Gordon threw Josh Harrison out at the plate. Detroit eventually loaded the bases with two out, and Stewart hit a drive down the line in right field off Wily Peralta.

“I love the kid. I said he can hit. I said he’s going to be a power hitter,” Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. “He’s going to have his ups and downs. He’s going to chase. He’s going to have some bad at-bats, but it’s a growing experience for him.”

Stewart is hitting just .143, but this was the second home run of the season for Detroit’s rookie outfielder. His other one was also big — a 10th-inning shot at Toronto that provided all the scoring in a 2-0 victory in the season opener.

“Won both games, that’s the biggest thing,” Stewart said. “I’m just thankful I was able to be a part to help us.”

After the game, Stewart got the grand slam ball back, giving a fan a signed bat in exchange.

Whit Merrifield, Jorge Soler and Hunter Dozier all homered for the Royals, but Kansas City’s bullpen — which entered the game with a 7.45 ERA — couldn’t hold on.

Shane Greene pitched a perfect ninth and now has saves in all six Detroit victories this season — without blowing any. The Tigers have won four straight, and the Royals have dropped five in a row.

“If I get frustrated, then the players see that I’m frustrated, then all of a sudden they start pressing more because they don’t want this, they don’t like this,” Kansas City manager Ned Yost said. “So my job is not to get frustrated, my job is to continue to support and continue to lead these guys through this period. They’re going to get through it.”

Tigers starter Matt Moore retired the first eight hitters he faced, but he left the game after three innings with a right knee injury. The team announced it as a sprain, although Gardenhire described it afterward as a strain. Detroit announced it would put Moore on the 10-day injured list. Daniel Norris, who pitched three innings in relief of Moore, is joining the rotation in his place.

Detroit led 2-0 in the sixth when Merrifield hit a solo shot, extending his hitting streak to 27 games. Kansas City then tied it in the seventh on a home run by Soler, and Dozier hit a two-run homer off Victor Alcantara (2-0) later that inning.

Nicholas Castellanos hit an RBI single in the seventh for the Tigers, and Miguel Cabrera followed with a single that could have loaded the bases with nobody out. Instead, third-base coach Dave Clark sent Harrison, who was thrown out at home. One out later, Jeimer Candelario drew a walk that loaded the bases for Stewart.

Merrifield’s hitting streak, which dates to last season, is now tied for the second-longest in Royals’ history. Jose Offerman had a 27-game streak in 1998, and George Brett had a 30-game run in 1980.

Royals first baseman Frank Schwindel, whose error in the second gave Detroit the game’s first run, singled in the seventh for his first career hit.

Cabrera hit an RBI single in the fifth that put the Tigers up 2-0.

STARTERS

Moore’s three scoreless innings lowered the ERA for Detroit’s starters to 2.12. The only baserunner he allowed came on the play when he got hurt. He went to the ground to field Billy Hamilton’s bunt to the right of the mound. Hamilton ended up with an infield single and went to second on Moore’s throwing error. Moore finished the inning, then left the game.

Kansas City starter Jorge Lopez allowed one earned run in six innings.

“I feel good since first inning,” Lopez said. “The plan was to be down, looking for soft contact.”

TRAINER’S ROOM

Tigers: OF JaCoby Jones (left shoulder) and RHP Drew VerHagen (right shoulder) started rehab assignments with Class A Lakeland on Friday night. Jones went 1 for 4 but struck out three times, which left Gardenhire a bit bemused. “Says, ‘When am I getting out of this place?’ You’re in A ball, just struck out three times,” Gardenhire said with a smile. “When you get a couple hits, not strike out three times in A ball — that would be my answer.”

Cheap Joel Matip Liverpool FC Soccer Jersey/Shirt/Hoodie/Hat Wholesale

Liverpool have lined up a move for Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter – and could use Joel Matip as a makeweight to seal the deal.

Jurgen Klopp signed Ginter during his time as Borussia Dortmund manager, but the defender has since moved on to Bundesliga rivals Monchengladbach, where he has impressed as part of a resolute backline.

According to Calciomercato, Klopp is now eyeing a move to sign Ginter for a second time as Liverpool boss. The Reds have struggled to find a regular partner for Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence, with Joel Matip the most consistent accomplice for the Dutchman.

However, the report suggests that Matip could be sold in the summer, which could may pave the way for Ginter to be reunited with his former boss.

Ginter is a versatile defender with the ability to play across the backline, and has 23 caps to his name with Germany.
Matthias Ginter

Given his impressive form in the Bundesliga this term, Ginter’s valuation at Monchengladbach is likely to have increased substantially, meaning that the sale of Matip could be a key means of financing any potential move.

Alternatively, Matip could be used as a pawn in a player-plus-cash swap deal between Liverpool and the German outfit, though such an arrangement could prove more difficult to pull off.

Given the Reds’ ability to splash £75m on Van Dijk 14 months ago, as well as their potential successes in both the Premier League and Champions League this term, Liverpool are unlikely to struggle to stump up the kind of fee which could be required to land Ginter in the summer.
Dejan Lovren

Having seen their defensive ranks restricted this season with injuries to Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and the recent setback for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ginter could provide a valuable option and greater depth in Liverpool’s rear-guard next term.
