Recovering from a long-term injury can be a difficult process for a professional footballer.
So having Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain alongside him during his arduous road back to the pitch is likely to have been welcomed by Rhian Brewster.
The Liverpool teenager is expected to be sidelined until around Christmas after injuring his ankle earlier this year, but his attempts to regain fitness have been aided by the presence of his more established and experienced Reds team-mate during those long hours in the gym.
That is until the midfielder decided to attempt his best Chris Brown impression on Monday, that is.Oxlade-Chamberlain was caught on camera by Brewster dancing and signing along to Brown’s 2007 hit With You in the Melwood gym as they both went through their paces.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose partner is Little Mix star Perrie Edwards, appeared to try his own hand at becoming a pop star with a performance that left Brewster seemingly nonplussed.
“Chris Brown or Naa” Brewster posted to his Instagram followers alongside some apparently unimpressed emojis. Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to miss the majority of this season after suffering a long-term knee injury in the 5-2 win against Roma in the semi-final of the Champions League back in April.
The versatile England international is working hard to ensure he returns to action sooner than initially thought, but Jurgen Klopp moved to to explain the severity of the injury back in July.He said: “It feels like now is an appropriate time to tell people that for Ox this coming season will be about focusing on recovery and rehab,” Klopp said.”We have known this from pretty much the day after he got the injury and after the successful surgery, we were sure of it.
“I hope everyone treats this information responsibly. There has been no change, no setback – it’s exactly on the schedule we expected and planned for. The new information is that we’re now giving more detail publicly.”
